Grounding is the practice of connecting to Mother Earth, it’s a calming off flighty Vata energy and finding a deep rooting to the physicality of life. When we are grounded we are safe and secure, we can breathe and we have a solid base to work from. Let’s keep our feet on the ground (sometimes) so we can stand our ground and stand for what we believe in.

I was born in Perth, Western Australia but moved overseas when I was 18, I spent most of twenties in the UK, now I’m a Sagittarius, I love travel and I love adventure but I did have many moments of being very aware of how far away from home I was. I remember writing a poem about a red dirt road that reminds me very much of this earthing mist I have created; I am Grounded. The poem is another story. There is nothing quite like that feeling of being home (it might not be the place we were born, it might be an element where you feel at peace - for me it’s the mountains) and feeling safe and steady. When creating my products, I always like them to be different (amongst other things) there are alot of smells out there, so I try and find something unique. My earthing mist reminds me of my home (Perth, hills, mountains, London, rivers - remember what grounds you, can be your home, your safe place, it can be lots of places, it can be a person - we get to make our own rules) It’s beautiful and unique and I hope you love it. On topic, never underestimate the power of bare feet on the ground or jumping the ocean or hugging a tree for heightened grounding xxx

Ingredients;

Sandalwood Floral Water (Santalum spicatum Hydorsol)

If I absolutely had to choose my favourite scent, like if someone made me, it would have to be sandalwood. Sandalwood is a slow-growing wood with a rich, complex scent. Indigenous to Southeast Asia, Sandalwood is one of the most expensive woods in the world. It has a long history of use in the spiritual practices of both the East and West. Sandalwood is labor-intensive to propagate, as it requires both a host tree and adequate sunlight to nourish itself. Sandalwood trees can take up to 80 years to reach full maturity. The concentration of scent in the heartwood increases as the tree ages. Trees that are planted today will not reach their aromatic peak for two generations. Sandalwood’s magical career began in India, where it has been used as a holy incense since the beginning of time. Early on, people observed that Sandalwood was never attacked by termites, which may have led to its reputation as a protective wood. The scent is believed to be one of the most pleasing to the gods. In India, the scent of Sandalwood wafts through nearly every Hindu home and temple. The wood is carved into prayer beads, ground into powder to make paste for anointing the forehead, and reverently placed on funeral pyres. It is believed to have cooling and soothing properties, and to direct one’s attention toward the divine realms.As Sandalwood made its way westward, its holy associations carried over into Ceremonial Magic. It is popular in blended incense and combines well with the sacred resins Frankincense and Myrrh. Sandalwood is considered to have a very high vibration, ideal for devotional and angelic magic. Sandalwood has a calming, sedative effect and aids in meditation. In ritual formulas, it is used for purification, consecration, relaxation, and peace.

Australian Lemon Myrtle Essential Oil (Backhousia citriodora)

This beautiful sweet lemon plant purifies the spirit of feelings of weakness, brings clarity for those who feel lost on their spiritual journey, releases emotions and helps you to breathe freely.

Frankincense essential oil (boswellia serrata)

This resin, harvested from the family of trees, appears in the story of the birth of Jesus. The Bible tells of the three wise men, who arrived at the manger, and “opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11) Frankincense, also known as olibanum, is a resin obtained from the Boswellia sacra tree as well as other closely related trees. The resin is gathered by slashing the bark of the tree and allowing the sap to bleed out and harden. These hardened bits of sap, called tears, are then collected by hand. Frankincense is often added to other magical mixtures in order to increase their potency due to the powerful vibrations of energy that are released from it when it is burned. These intense energies drive away negative energies and evil so it has been used throughout the ages for purification and exorcism. With this in mind we can see that it also an excellent choice for preventative measures such as that of protection. The strong vibrations produced by frankincense make it an excellent choice in meditation incenses and also in mixtures used to promote spiritual growth as well as to induce visions. Frankincense brings out the best in all of us.

Indonesian Vetiver essential oil (Chrysopogon zizanioides)

Before I knew what Vetiver was - I thought it was just an American folk band that I loved. I remember buying tickets for their London show for my then, boyfriends valentines day present. I remember they played somewhere random near Regents Park and it was such a cold night for sad music, I wrote a poem about it but that’s another story. The roots of this Earth plant are ground and added to incense mixtures to give them an earthy, sensual scent. Vetiver is uplifting and helps maintain emotional calm, especially when flashbacks are experienced (its essential oil is called the Oil of Tranquility). This magick herb is sometimes helpful in processing grief and promotes restful sleep and calm dreams. This essential oil Vetiver connects us to the earth’s energies, because it is distilled from the roots, it knows about the Underworld. A good oil to use to add strength to spell work, to ground the spell, and is effective to add power and stability to a spell too. Use Vetiver for luck, love and money, use in potions for protection for home and family. Emotionally this oil supports you when dealing with problems by adding strength and calmness. It is a source of vital energy and regeneration. The earthy fragrance of the oil supports all those who have lost touch with the earth or with their roots. Vetiver nourishes people who have cold feet or who have their heads in the clouds. We can use Vetiver Essential Oil to assist us in connecting with the earth and so acts to bring in the energy allowing relief from tension and stress.
