State of Zen - the meditators ointment. You only need yourself to meditate, yeah yeah. We know but it doesn’t hurt to have a little help from your plant allies and to create a ritual around something you would like to incorporate into a daily practice. I’ve chosen plants to assist with the fundamental challenges that meditation can bring, so we are equipped and reassured knowing we have a little back up. This is your back up:
Cedar for grounding
Dark Patchouli for hope
Rose for protection
Tuberose for patience
Cacao for expansion
Geranium, Rose and Cacao for heart connection
Nutmeg for focus (and a little bit of luck)
Cacao Essential Oil (Theobroma cacao): Cacao helps you to open your heart, heightens meditation, creativity and provides a soul connection and exploration. Cacao is used by Mayan and Aztec communities in ceremony for hundreds of years to explore the depth of the soul. Cacao is decadent and celebratory.
Patchouli Essential Oil (Pogestemon patchouli); A Rich musky & sweet spice top note. On an Emotional and Spiritual level ~ brings a sense of sacredness of life ~ harmonising, grounding & balancing effect on the emotions & mind ~ helps relieve feelings of sadness & loss & creates new hope ~ releases obsession, insecurities & jealousies & enhancing our desire to live a fuller life
Cedarwood Essential Oil (Cedrus atlantica): Cedarwood has a grounding, fortifying, strengthening and comforting effect, gives us an immovable strength in times of crisis, steadying the conscious mind, helps to resist the sudden events and powerful emotions that threaten to undermine our confidence and morale
Geranium Essential Oil (Pelargonium graveolens) : The oil of SELF LOVE what better oil to include in a herbal oil for the heart space? Geranium uplifts the spirits, brings joy, harmony and happiness. Geranium releases negative emotions and memories , helps diminish fears of abandonment, love and surrounding commitment, it’s balancing and grounding. Geranium is used for spiritual practice and meditation, helping to connect to the intuition and wisdom of the heart
Rose Essential Oil (Rosa damascena): The elemental of rose was assigned to the heart . Rose refreshes a sad heart and soul , opens doors to love, friendship and empathy, comforts in times of sorrow, dissolves psychological pain and heals emotional wounds . Rose boosts self esteem, confidence and mental strength, it invokes positive thoughts , spiritual relaxation, creates feelings of joy, happiness and hope. Rose is also a heart protector - think of it like the San Jiao Flower. Anything with thorns helps us with our boundaries.
Tuberose Essential Oil (Polianthes Tuberosa) Tuberose is a mystical night blooming flower that used to be the most challenging and laborious flower to extract - hence patience. Tuberose originates from Central America and resonates with the crown chakra and is said to inspire psychic abilities.
Nutmeg Essential Oil (Myristica fragans) Nutmeg releases depression, doubt and resistance, helps embrace flexibility, spontanaity and joy. Nutmeg helps us move forward with ease in life. Restoring hope. This sweetly warm witches herb also brings with it some luck.
Directions: :Apply to pulse points or palms for inhalation. Relax your body. Notice your breath. Take a deep breath in and allow the plant aromas to awaken your senses. You might attune to what aroma you can smell, from the most obvious to subtle. Feeling into the texture of your clothing against your skin, leaning into the parts of self connected to earth. Moving awareness to your heart. Behind closed eyes. What do you see? What can you hear? What are you feeling? Observe. Stay for a little while.
